For those lucky enough to attend the coveted James Boag's marquee (I have heard it is the marquee to be at for all the foodies out there), I can say that their taste buds will most certainly be tantalised by some of the most exquisite delights. The menu will feature the finest Tasmanian produce, Melbourne chefs, limited edition bottles and an open kitchen with fired pizza - amazing, what a fantastic mix!
Described as a distinguished lounge, the marquee has built a reputation of being one of the best and most comfortable marquees, it is the largest in the Birdcage enclosure built up on the second level and boasts the best views of the track. Guests will be treated to an eclectic menu featuring a number of Tasmanian produced prepared by the renowned Big Group, including Crisp noodle with seared Spring Bar scallop, laksa mayonnaise and the ‘Raw Bar’, laden with delicious cured, pickled and raw Tasmanian meats and seafood, and of course James Boag’s Draught Rarebit with piccalilli and baby radish (is your mouth watering right now too?). Guests will also enjoy an array of James Boag's beverages including; James Boag’s Premium, James Boag’s Draught, along with Croser Sparkling, Stonier and St Hallett wines.
Guests will include the who's who of the hospitality world and guests will be sampling items created by; Paul Wilson from Circa at the Prince of Wales, Michael Lambie from The Smith Restaurant & Bar and Luke Brabin from The Botanical and Darren Purchese from Burch & Purchese Sweet Studio, all 4 chefs will be attending the race days, with their dishes being served up on Derby, Cup and Oaks day.
And if you missed out on an invite this year, not to worry you can get a taste of the birdcage this year at the James Boag Draught Escape Bar in the new Hill Square precinct (General Admission). The bar will feature a similar design to the birdcage marquee and will be hosting a range of activities, such as the Celebrity Pour Off and James Boag’s Draught’s take on mens fascinators (a must see!).
