It's 2013, and we are 3 days into the new year - how is it going for you?
I'm not one to believe in new years resolutions (mostly because I am not one to keep them going for very long), but this year I have shifted the focus on resolutions and instead I am looking at them as my goals. The key (I think), to keeping goals is to set a date of when you want to achieve them and have visual reminders to keep you motivated.
So what are my goals for this year?
1. To get fit - Yes I know this is a goal that most people have but Ben and I are keen on being the fittest we've been. We've started a healthy cooking challenge (I work best when there's some level of competition involved) and getting into a fitness regime!
2. To travel and save - Sounds like a bit of an oxymoron but we're going to give it a go!
3. To write a book - I have wanted to do this one for a long time, and I've already got chapter one done so I'm hoping that by the end of the year I'll have a book ready for you all to read!
With my goals I have a monthly check in with a 3 month, 6 month and 9 month milestone mark (i.e. for the book I'd like to have 5 chapters done by the 3 month mark), I find that monthly check-ins will keep me motivated and the milestones will give me something greater to work toward. I also have a few friends and family keeping me accountable so I don't get off track (this is very important!).
And as you all know, I love my visuals so here are my favourites - feel free to use them for yourself!
By the way, tomorrow Ben and I are going on a fun holiday to Queensland, I have never been there and am very excited about visiting the theme parks, going to the beach and being a tourist in my own country! I will be blogging from the Gold Coast and posting some pictures of my holiday antics, and I'll let you know how I go on the scary rides at the theme parks!
Are you doing anything exciting these holidays?
